Three Quick Tips To Help Scale Your Side Hustle

Scaling a side hustle is vital to achieving long term growth, and success. As a small reseller finding ways to scale can be difficult, especially when it does not make sense to pay for an eBay store or the professional Amazon seller account. Fortunately, any sized reseller can use the tips below to scale their side hustle!

1) Bulk Shipping Supplies

A great way to cut costs is to buy your shipping supply in bulk, where the key ways to scale up is through bubble mailers, and bubble wrap. At Walmart, bubble wrap often costs about $17 for 150 feet. which is about 11 cents a foot. However, you can buy 175 feet on bubble wrap for $8.45 on Amazon, which is less than 5 cents a foot. Another key way is through bubble mailers. Size 4 (9.5”x15.5”) bubble mailers at Walmart are about 50 cents apiece, but you can get the same size for $23.10 on Amazon, which is about 46 cents apiece, allowing you to earn more money on every sale.

When buying boxes, Uline has great prices where they sell most box sizes for between 50 cents and a dollar apice. However, if you do not use many boxes, I have found that Walmart is actually a good place to buy them, because they sell a 14x14x12 box for 74 cents. Another way to get boxes for a good price is through flat rate shipping through USPS, where the boxes are free as long as you pay the shipping. This is especially useful when shipping items that are especially dense.

2) Use Promoted Listings on eBay

On eBay, you can use promoted listings to help your items sell. Basically, you say that you are willing to give a percentage of the sale price of your item if someone clicks on a promoted link to make a purchase. As a result, eBay puts your item in front of more customers, so it will sell faster. You can often sell inventory for a little more when doing this to help offset additional costs, and get sales which will help in turn allow you to buy more inventory, and scale even faster.

3) Create A Facebook Page

Creating a Facebook Page can help you scale, because it will help you get more interest in your eBay store from outside of eBay. This is a great way to get more traffic, and to promote links to your products which is especially beneficial because eBay waves final value fees if an item sells with a share link. Also, if your Facebook page gets large enough you can sell products through the page, which will help your inventory get more exposure, and avoid eBay fees further.
